Today’s world is an information-rich world and it has become a necessity for everyone to know about computers. A computer is an electronic data processing machine, which accepts and stores data input, processes the data input and generates the output in a required format. 

                 A computer consists of hardware and software. Hardware components describe the physical parts of the computer and software controls hardware and run the operating system, different programs & applications like Microsoft Paint, Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, Tally, Adobe Photoshop, etc.

Any digital computer carries out the following four functions –

1^st Step − Takes any instruction/data as input.

2^nd Step − Stores the data/instructions in its memory and uses them as required.

3^rd Step − Processes the data and converts it into useful information.

4^th Step − Generates the output.
